Nationals Crit Results

Excellent racing out of Lindsy Campbell. She finished 19th overall but 4th place in the U23s. A late race crash made things interesting, but LC avoided the drama and hung on for a top placing.

Brian Williams received a pedal to the front wheel and flew over the bars. His bike is hurting.....with no front wheel and saddle. He has no broken bones, but the road rash on his right side his nasty. He's hopeful about racing Sunday, but needs to find some equipment.

Willy tucked nicely in 24th place and looks forward to the road race.

Marshall was in the 40's and also is looking forward to the road race.

Montana Racers at Nationals

Let it begin.

Yesterday Willy Zellmer placed 12th in the 17-18 time trial.

Today Willy will race the crit at 3pm. Lindsy Campbell races at 6 and Brian Williams begins his nationals campaign at 7:30.

I have yet to find any streaming reports, but if I do I'll pass it along.

NEWS FLASH 12:01pm - Just talked to Brian on the phone. It's hot and yesterday he drank 10 waterbottles while driving. The crit course tonight is a flat four corner. The finishing stretch is 300 meters long. He's thinking that the winner will probably not come out of the last corner in 1st. The last 2 years have been a bunch finish, so he's hoping to be near the front in the final corner.

Elkhorn Classic - Frykmans

Brian Frykman can climb. Freightrain had no problem on the 8 mile climb to the top of Dooley Mountain. He secured a 5th place GC position after solid climbing and solid work by the GAS team. John Curry joined the early break and relieved some pressure off of Brian. After the 3rd of four climbs, Brian Williams drilled the group of 30 riders along a 25 mile flat stretch. It was a nice show of Montana strength as Williams, Hagens B, and Cal Giant brought the break back to 2:45 before the final climb. However, Frykman delivered the goods on the climb. Exergy's Chris Hong was in the break and increased his advantage on the climb to take the win and the GC. Chris was in Whitefish the weekend before.

On the ladies side, both Amy and Patricia had excellent results. Amy rode strong on the final stage to finish 3rd in the 1/2 GC. Patricia matched her teammates efforts and rode courageously to a 3rd place GC in the 3's (maybe was fuzzy on the top of the mountain).
